The famous Roman Baths that give the city its name were founded in 75 A.D. The Romans named the city Aquae Solis or "Waters of the Sun" because Bath has the only natural hot springs in the UK. They are still fed by natural mineral springs.
Bath has a long connection with the sport of Rugby Union. As well as one of the leading Rugby Union teams in England the city of Bath is connected to Rugby Union’s Olly Barkley, Jeremy Guscott, Andy Robinson, Clive Woodward and Jack Rowell.
